Flood Gates and Stop Logs

Flood gates and stop logs are designed to allow the normal through put of traffic and pedestrians until such times as floods are expected. They are designed to hold back large quantities of water and prevent damage to property, possessions or live stock. Flood gates are always in situ and are always ready to deploy with immediate effect, stop logs are designed to be stored away until needed and deployed in to action when required.

Flood Gates

The flood gates can be locked in position to form a complete water tight barrier until the water level recedes, and incorporates neoprene seals which compress when the gate is closed.

Flood gates are manufactured in mild steel and available in a variety of paint specifications to suit various different Environment Agency / Water Authority requirements.

Lockable decorative over panels in either steel or GRP are available for most flood gates as an optional extra which give added security against vandalism.

Stop Logs

Most modern stop logs are based around traditional structural designs that have been used for years. The name Stoplogs originates from the use of wooden logs which were originally used to prevent the flow of water or to direct the flow of water to another area.

As stop logs are designed to be portable, they have to be manufactured from lightweight materials so that they can quickly be deployed as and when required. Most stop logs require very little maintenance as they have very few moving parts and are manufactured from corrosion resistant materials.

Most stop logs are manufactured in light weight aluminium and allow a fast, effective and an economical barrier against the ingress of water through doorways. Stop logs are often used in waste and sewage treatment plants, irrigation canals and pumping stations for flow control. To ensure no leaks occur, seals are incorporated into the sides of the logs.

Here at Transglobal, we can manufacture stop logs to suit any requirements that the client will need for the construction and can also arrange to service or repair and existing installation.
